WW1 Events - July 31 1914 -
  • Germany warns Russia to stop mobilizing.
  • Russia says mobilization is against Austria-Hungary only.

Andrea Pomettini did quite the nice job building, detailing and finishing the 1/72 Revell Albatros D.III.  Andrea scratchbuilt some foil seatbelts, reposition the control surfaces on the tail and more.  This WW1 fighter had a wooden fuselage and Andrea did a stunning job creating the wood look on the fuselage.  This one is a beauty from every angle...enjoy the photos.

Lucian Capraru is here with something special you don't see often.  This is the 1/35 Trumpeter S-75M finished in Romanian markings and mounted on it's launching base ready for action.  Lucian modified the model to improve the accuracy and I must say the finished missile looks excellent.

Franck Oudin did some wonderful extra work and used aftermarket sets and decals to make his stunning 1/32 Revell Bf-109 G-4 Trop.  Franck chose a desert camo and them added full weathering to get the perfect look.  This 109 is stunning.

Eric R. Engstrom has done an exceptional job on his 1/72 AMT/Ertl B-52G In Chrome Dome finish.  The paint finish is flawless, but Eric also added other features such as drooped wings for a more realistic stance.  This oen is a beauty.....I love the color scheme.

Vanuatu Independence Day

Waldemar Pupar has done a fantastic job on his 1/32 Tamiya F-16C Block 32 Thunderbirds.  Waldemar  chose the big Tamiya F-16 and posed it as an in-flight model with a beautiful paint work.  I've seen the Thunderbirds perform and it is a special treat to see this model of one of their jets.

Olivier Barles has been very successful weathering his 1/32 Tamiya Mustang P-51D.  This Mustang is in the markings for an aircraft flown by one of the "The Bottisham Boys" and it looks exceptional, but it is Olivier's weathering technique that brings this bare metal Mustang to life and Olivier explains his weathering technique in his article.  Beautiful work Olivier.

Eric Bade is here with his excellent looking 1/72 Hasegawa Me-262A.  Eric repainted this 262 in the markings for a famous Luftwaffe pilot with a bit of weathering to complete the look.  This one sharp looking 262.

Fabby Borromeo has done a gorgeous job building and finishing his 1/48 Tamiya Douglas A-1J Skyraider.  This particular Spad was based in Thailand and Fabby gave it a full weapons load to show the capabilities of this amazing ground support aircraft.  Fabby used a SEA camo along with noseart to complete the look.  I love the look of this Spad.

Burt Gustafson has done splendid job on his 1/48 HobbyBoss Rafale C Fighter.  This is actually a model of the Rafale C prototype (Rafale C01) and Burt tells the history of this and other Rafale prototypes and then goes on to detail the build and the areas that need special attention.  This is a stealthy Rafale with it's flat black paint and Burt's finished model look very sharp.

Jens Gerber built his beautiful 1/48 Eduard Bf 109 G6 Profi Kit with some added stretched spue antenna wires plus cannons / pitot tubes.  He then finished it in mid-war markings for Ofw. Alfred Surau with 9/JG 3.  I love the camo scheme Jens chose for his 109.....it looks perfect.

Sertac Bayar is here with 2 F-5's wearing Turkish Stars markings.  These are his 1/48 Academy - Testors NF-5A & B with scratchbuilt details in the cockpit and landing gear and custom painted markings to get these exciting and eye catching paint schemes.  These have got to be one of the best looking schemes worn by Turkish jets.  I love the look of both of them Sertac.

Zdenek Fabik went all out detailing and finishing his stunning 1/72 Tamiya P-51D Mustang.  Zdenek used an Aires cockpit set and Eduard photo etch to get all the detail right before he gave it a flawless bare metal finish with the very cool markings for "Fighting Duck" flown by Capt. Donald R. Emerson.  This Mustang would be the highlight of any display case.

Gary Wickham is here with his very eye catching 1/48 Hasegawa A-4E Skyhawk.  This Scooter is posed in-flight with re-positioned control surfaces and finished off with Twobobs decals and just the perfect amount of weathering.. I love the look of these aggressor jets.

  • The Serbian response is seen as unsatisfactory.

Waldemar Pupar has done an exceptional job painting and weathering his 1/48 Dragon Ju-88 C6.  Waldemar  chose to finish his JU-88 in the very difficult weathered lokk of the winter camo worn on the Eastern Front during WW2.  Amazing work Waldemar.

Christophe Coudert is here with his big beautiful 1/32 Academy CF-188 Canadian Hornet.  Christophe built this beauty with plenty of aftermarket sets and finished in as a Canadian jet for his friend that is a CF-188 pilot with 409 Sqd in Cold Lake.  It looks fantastic Christophe.

Vjekoslav Ranec is here with one of the Pearl Harbor defenders.  This is his flawless 1/48 Academy P-36A Hawk "Pajama Party".  It was flown by Phil Rasmussen during the attack on Pearl Harbor and you can seem a pajama clad Phil Rasmussen figure climbing into the cockpit in this diorama.  This diorama is fantastic and captures that historic scene from so long ago.

Sebastian Manfre has sent in pics and an article of his recently completed 1/48 Hasegawa F-14B in VF-103 markings.  Sebastian  detail his Tomcat with a resin cockpit before giving his jet a 3 tone TPS camo scheme with fully and very realistic weathering.  I love those Jolly Rogers markings.

Johan Elvin has put plenty of extra effort to build his 1/48 Tarangus SAAB J 32B Lansen to a very high level of detail and quality.  Johan did a massive amount of scratchbuilding and added detail sets from Maestro Models and further detailing from Eduard.  Then he wrapped up this amazing project with a flawlessly done gently accented paint job that further shows off this model in a spectacular way.  Everything is amazing on this Lansen.

Jens Gerber has created a masterpiece with his 1/48 Dragon / Revell Ju 88 C6.  Jens picked the most complicated camo scheme worn by the Ju 88 and did an excellent job on it.  He also added scratchbuilt parts to make his Ju 88 a night time radar equipped aircraft.  WOW....fantastic work Jens!!!

Richard S. Hayward added a resin cockpit and seat to his 1/48 Hasegawa F-8E VX-4.  The markings were custom made by Richard to give him a very colorful jet.  The deployed speedbrake, raised wing and dropped flaps show off his F-8 in a wonderful way.  This one is a treat to see.

Lucian Capraru gets this special July 4th update started with his 1/48 Italeri UH-1D Iroquois.  This UH-1D  has excellent interior detail and the markings look just like it should for a United States Army 1st Cavalry Iroquois during the peak of the Vietnam war.  I really enjoyed seeing this one.....it reminds me so much of the choppers used in the movie "We were soldiers".

Carmel J. Attard always builds very unique and interesting versions of common aircraft.  Today he is here with his 1/72 Airfix VB-29 which is a SAC long range VIP transport version of the B-29.  Carmel explains the whole conversion process and I must say the finished model is a very attractive version of the B-29 and compared to the more common bare metal B-29s.  This one is a beauty and a very good choice for a July 4th update.

Burt Gustafson gets your Thursday update started in style with his just finished 1/48 Hasegawa T-4 Blue Impulse.  This is the jet used by Japan's aerobatic team and in this blue and white scheme if is quite attractive.  Burt found this model easy to build and he finished it to his usual high standards.  This one is a beauty Burt....thanks for sharing.

Danny Zhao is here with something a bit different today.  This is his 1/72 Hobby Master Junkers Ju 87G which is a die-cast aircraft kit finished as the tank busting version of the Stuka.  Danny did an excellent job painting and finishing his Ju-87 and this is a very appealing option for modellers that want a diecast model in their own specific paint scheme.

Thomas Neuss is here with his spectacular looking 1/32 Revell ECR Tornado “Tigermeet 2001”.  As with most modellers I enjoy seeing Tigermeet jets and this one is one of the better looking jets.  Thomas added weathering to get that very realistic look on his big and very impressive Luftwaffe Tornado.  Wow...I love the look of this Tornado.

Thang Le did an exceptional job on the classic 1/48 Monogram P-39 Airacobra.  Thang has never been shy of building the older kit and his finished models always look top notch as you will see when you enjoy all the photos of his P-39.  I always enjoy seeing Thang's model on ARC.

Mauricio Castro is here with a very rare air racer.  This is his 1/32 Tamiya Spitfire MkXVIe RACER 6 as it appeared in 1949.    Mauricio used pre-shading to get that perfect looking panel line effect.  His Spitfire looks fantastic and he has included photos of the complete build process.

Prokopis Kroustallis is here with his Second Star Wars submission in as many weeks.  Today you get to see his 1/72 Fine Molds Tie Interceptor which is a beauty.  Prokopis did something very special on the solar panels by painting them black and then finishing them with Alclad II Prismatic Sapphire.  This gave the panels a very realistic look, which looks so much better than just straight black paint.

Erik Wauters was very persistent and built the 1/144 Minicraft Boeing B-377 Stratocruiser.  Erik gives this kit a very poor grade for fit but as you will see in his photos......it does build into a  gorgeous model of this early airliner.  I love the look of his Stratocruiser.

Matthias Becker did a stellar job on his 1/72 Hasegawa F-4E Phantom II.  Matthias chose an American Phantom based in Ramstein Air Base wearing a SEA camo scheme in the '80s.  He added full cockpit detail and darkened the panel lines and gently shaded the paint job for a weathered look.

Canada  Day

  Hong Kong Day

Burundi Independence Day

Rwanda Independence Day

Happy Canada Day to all the ARC Canucks

Shawn "phantom" Weiler is here to mark Canada Day with his flawlessly finished 1/48 Kinetic CF-116D (F-5B) #2.  Shawn chose a baremetal jet and he used the multi-shaded effect for maximum realism.  It's a special treat to see his 2 seater on ARC on Canada Day.

Serge Dompierre is also here from Canada with his amazing 1/48 Hasegawa Hawker Typhoon MK-1B.  Serge dressed up his Typhoon with resin goodies from Ultracast and then gave his RCAF Typhoon D-Day stripes as it appeared in June of 1944 in it's mission to push back Germany armour from the Normandy area.

Somchai 'Blackeyes' is here from Thailand with his outstanding 1/72 Italeri Super Entendard.  This is a French Air Force jet as it appeared over Bosnia.  He chose an excellent looking paint scheme and added a weapons load for that finishing touch.

Fernando Azurdia is here with his war weary 1/72 Hasegawa A6M5 Zero Type 52.  Fernando opened the canopy to show off the cockpit detail he added.  He then gave his Zero a chipped paint look to match how Japanese planes looked later in the war.
