Here a set of resin P-51B-D flaps from Ultracast.   These flaps are a replacement for the kit flaps and permits the modeller to have accurately lowered flaps, which isn't possible with the kit flaps.  The kit flaps are inaccurate if positioned in the lowered position.

Comparison of end details.

The biggest shortcoming of the Tamiya kit's flap is the curved undercut to the upper inner surface of the flap. This undercut allows modellers to build the kit with the flaps closed, however it is inaccurate if modelled with flaps in the down position.

Tamiya and Ultracast flap compared.

Below are two photos taken of the P-51 Mustang at the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio which shows this area in detail.

You can buy these flaps directly from the Ultracast website.
