This new decal sheet from Starfighter Decals includes markings for 14 different aircraft that flew during the battle: F4F-4 Wildcats, SBD-3 Dauntless, TBD-1 Devastators, PBY-5A Catalina, and SOC-1 Seagull. Markings for 14 different aircraft included, but insignia for the five different aircraft included. Aircraft from 4 different ships (Enterprise, Hornet, Yorktown, and Portland) and Midway Island.

The 14 aircraft include

  • SBD-3 Dauntless Bu. Number 4687 flown by Lt. R. Best/ACRM J. Murry with VB-6, bomb hit on Akagi.  Recommended kit is Hasegawa.

  • SBD-3 Dauntless Bu. Number 4618 flown by CD R. Wade McClusky CAF Air Group Six.  Recommended kit is Hasegawa.

  • SBD-3 Dauntless Bu. Number 4659 flown by ENS L. Larson AMR3c Gardner with VS-5.  Recommended kit is Hasegawa.

  • SBD-3 Dauntless Bu. Number 4665  with VS-8.  Recommended kit is Hasegawa.

  • TBD-1 Devastator Bu. Number 0279  ENS. Morris/ARM2c Butler with VT-6 on 5 June '42.  Recommended kit is Airfix.

  • TBD-1 Devastator Bu. Number 1506  LCDR J. Waldron/ACRM Dobbs with VT-8 on 4 June '42.  Recommended kit is Airfix.

  • TBD-1 Devastator Bu. Number 0298  LCDR E. Lindsey/ACRM Grenat with VT-6 on 4 of June '42.  Recommended kit is Airfix.

  • TBD-1 Devastator Bu. Number 0285  LCDR L. Massey/ACRM I. Perry with VT-3 on 4 of June '42.  Recommended kit is Airfix.

  • PBY-5A Catalina Bu. Number 04982  ENS. Jack Reid Pilot with VP-44 on 3 of June 1942.  Recommended kit is Minicraft.

  • F4F-4 Wildcat Bu. Number 5174 Rad. Elec Edward Bayers with VF-6.  Shot down Kate, Zero on 4 of June '42.  

  • F4F-4 Wildcat Bu. Number 5174 Lt Cdr Jimmy Thatch CO of VF-3 USS Yorktown on 4 of June '42.  

  • F4F-4 Wildcat Bu. Number 5149 Lt. (jg) Art Brassfield of VF-3. Shot down 4 Vals  4 of June '42.  

  • F4F-4 Wildcat Bu. Number 5089 Ens Steven Groves of VF-8.  shot down Val KIA 4 of June '42.  

  • SOC-1 Seagull Bu. Number 9891 Lt. (jg) Wilhelm ARM1c Dyer of VCS-5 CA-33 on  7 of June '42.  

The 4 pages of instructions are clear and include a single color profile of each aircraft.  The decals are beautifully printed on 1 decal sheet with one tiny insert decal sheet.  It's wonderful to see so many aircraft from the Battle of Midway all on one decals sheet.
