Product # 3202 for $12.00 for Hasegawa kit

Product Article by Steve Bamford on June 9 2011

This new decal sheet from Starfighter Decals includes markings for 4 different Boeing P-12E and each one has artwork.  The Boeing P-12 was used by the US from 1930 to the mid 1930's when it was phased out and replaced by the Boeing P-26 and the P-12's were relegated to mechanics training schools.  Brazil was the last to fly the P-12 and they retired the last of their P-12's in 1949.  Total production was 586 aircraft.

You get national insignia and stencils for 1 aircraft and markings for 4 different aircraft in colorful pre-war schemes.

Special thanks goes to Dave Ostrowski and Mike Lampros.

The 4 aircraft include colorful pre-war paint schemes.

  • P-12E Aircraft # 46, 35th P.S., Langley Field, VA.  Overall Olive Drab with yellow wings and red and white striped rudder.  Artwork on the side of the fuselage is a black cat.

  • P-12E Aircraft # 10 from the "Skyblazers" AAC Demonstration team from Maxwell Field, Alabama in 1937.  Overall Light Blue with yellow wings and yellow tail and red and white striped rudder.  Artwork on the side of the fuselage is an armored hand with lightning bolts and the script "Air University".

  • P-12E Aircraft # 1, 31-541 24th Pursuit Sqdn. Canal Zone in 1934.  Overall Olive Drab with yellow wings, red wheels and red horizontal flying surfaces and red and white striped rudder.  Artwork on the side of the fuselage is a Tiger.

  • P-12E Aircraft # 1, 8th P.S. Commander Aircraft, Langley Field, VA.  Overall Olive drab with yellow wings, yellow tail with red and white striped rudder.  Artwork on the side of the blue shield with yellow accents.

The 4 pages of instructions are clear and include color views of all areas of each aircraft plus stencil placement.  The decals are beautifully printed by Cartograf on 1 decal sheet.  I'm impressed to see such a nice variety of P-12 and all with artwork.  This is a very nice decal sheet and sure to please 1/32 modelers with a passion for these colorful pre-war American planes.

I would like to thank Starfighter Decals for providing me with this review sample.
