This latest release from Aires features a complete resin set to make your own 1/72 Mistel bomber used by the Luftwaffe during WW2.  The Ju-88 Mistel took wornout Ju-88 airframes and fitted a massive cockpit to the nose where the cockpit once was.  On the top side of the Ju-88 fuselage is fitted a single seat fighter on 3 struts protruding from the top side of the Ju-88.  The single engine fighter was originally the Bf-109 and later Fw-190's were used.  The plan was a single pilot in the fighter aircraft would be able to control both aircraft as he guided the big bomber to the target and once the Ju-88 was on the proper glide slope to the target....the single engine fighter would disengage from the Ju-88 and fly back to base.  The massive warhead on the Ju-88 nose would explode on impact with the target.  This sort of guided bomb was used for high priority targets.

The quality of the resin casting is flawless and bubble free with delicate panels lines and very well done detail.

You can purchase these and other fine resin detail items directly from Aires or from the many retailers that carry their products.  A list of some of those retailers can be found here.

I've always been fascinated by the Mistel and it is good to see this set available.
