The A-10
Thunderbolt II is the first Air Force aircraft specially designed for
close air support of ground forces. They are simple, effective and
survivable twin-engine jet aircraft that can be used against all ground
targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles.
The primary mission of the
A-10 is to provide day and night close air combat support for friendly
land forces and to act as forward air controller (FAC) to coordinate and
direct friendly air forces in support of land forces. The A-10 has a
secondary mission of supporting search and rescue and Special Forces
operations. It also possesses a limited capability to perform certain
types of interdiction. All of these missions may take place in a high or
low threat environment.
The first aircraft is an
A-10A Thunderbolt II AF810977 with the 66th Weapons School in April
2005. The artwork includes the artwork for the 57th Wing (a shield
with a bomb racing towards the crosshairs of a target as well as the 66th
Weapons School (a cartoon rooster with boxing gloves). The tails
feature the text "WEAPONS SCHOOL". The decal sheet
features 10 photos of the real jets and due to the light gray of the camo
you will have a very good opportunity to really go to town on the
weathering. The second aircraft is an
A-10A Thunderbolt II AF800229 with the 66th Weapons School in April
2005. The artwork includes the artwork for the 57th Wing (a shield
with a bomb racing towards the crosshairs of a target as well as the 66th
Weapons School (a cartoon rooster with boxing gloves).
The decals are
printed on one decal sheet and are of the
usual high quality we have come to enjoy from Twobobs.
These
jets are in the standard 2 tone gray A-10 paint scheme with black
markings and a dark gray false canopy on the underside of the
fuselage. Both Warthogs on this sheet have yellow and black
checked fin flashes at the top of their tails.
The instructions
also include 4 view color drawings of these jets showing decal and
stencil placement. The decals are beautifully printed on 1
decal sheet. Paint codes are called out in FS #'s, Testors MM,
Humbrol, Gunze Sangyo and Xtracrylics.
Special thanks for
marking this sheet possible goes to Don Logan.
I would like to thank Twobobs
