The April 2006 issue of Fine Scale Modeler demonstrates using New Ware details and decals to construct a super-detailed 1/96 Saturn V based on the Revell kit. In order to provide more modelers the opportunity to use New Ware accessories in constructing an accurate replica of America’s moon rocket, New Ware is providing a free set of 152 decals worth $8 with the purchase of the detail set.
The
article entitled “A Giant Leap” was written by noted modeler, Phil Gore, and
documents his construction of the Revell Saturn V using New Ware details. The 5
page article includes 23 photos showing the creation of his Saturn V model. New
Ware decals were used to provide more accurate markings than those supplied with
the kit. In the article Phil Gore states:
"The
detail set is invaluable; it includes 82 cast resin parts and 134 photoetched-metal
parts. The most helpful part of the set was the 7 pages of scale drawings. The
information saves many hours of research and guesswork."

The
Revell Saturn V in 1/96 is a fabulous tribute to the Apollo program and the
first men on the moon. The Saturn V is the tallest kit of a rocket ever made by
a major model manufacturer and stands over 4 feet tall. Originally released in
1969, the kit has been very popular as the largest and most detailed injection
molded version of the Saturn V moon rocket. In January 2005, Revell re-issued
the mighty Saturn V for the first time in ten years.
New
Ware’s detail set for the Saturn V will make the moon rocket even more
accurate and detailed. Phil Gore used the parts to convert the Command Service
Module (CSM) from the Block I version of the Revell kit to the Block II version
that actually flew on the Apollo manned missions. The detail set comes with
complete instructions and a CD of photos of the rocket.
The Saturn V walkabout CD contains 50 photos of the actual Saturn V’s
that are displayed at the Kennedy Space Center and Huntsville, Alabama. The
Saturn V detail set was awarded the “Model of the Year” by Starship Modeler
when the set was first released in 1999. The detail set retails for $75.
New
Ware decals for the Saturn V consists of 152 decals for all the markings
on the 4 foot tall moon rocket. The decals can be used to model every
Saturn V, including Skylab. The decals have replacements for the USA
markings that Revell pre-printed on the plastic for the first and second
stages. The decal set normally retails for $ 10. |

with the release of the huge Saturn V, New Ware is providing a free set of the
152 decals when each detail set is purchased. The detail set, the decals, and
the Saturn V walkabout CD are being offered at the special price of only $75.
This special value offer is valid for a limited time only until June 30, 2006.
The free decals and the detail set, along with the CD, will bring out the best
that the fabulous Saturn V kit has to offer and make the finished model an award
winner. The detail parts, the decals and the CD are shown in the attached
photos.
