1/48 Hasegawa P-51D Mustang

I took the plunge to build a 'bare silver' airplane and the P-51 looked the best choice. The Hasegawa kit is totally OOTB and very nice to put together. The level of detail is very high and the panel lines are crisp. Overall I would recommend this kit.

I painted most of the kit with Tamyia acrylics and the silver was done with a combination of Plasti-kote chrome and Alcad II aluminium on different panels. The kit was looking good until I put some fingerprints on it. I had to sand and remask some of the panels and then respray. I then also drybrushed some other panels to try and get a variation. I did a wash with black and burnt umber mixed with Johnsons Klear (Future). Finally the panel lines, gun and exhaust soot were sprayed with Tamyia smoke to give it that real 'dirty' look.

Many thanks for looking and questions or comments always welcome.
