Construction

Other than some minor scratchbuilding (brake lines, antenna, seat harness & handle above the headrest), the model was built out-of-the-box. The only real issues with the kit were the wing/fuselage joins as there were gaps in those areas which required repeated applications of filler to get everything filled in and smooth. There was no hole for the pitot tube, so I had to used my mini-drill to drill a hole right on the leading edge of the wing.

Painting & Weathering

Model Master Non-Buffing Aluminum Metalizer and Metalizer Sealer were used for the finish.  Model Master Interior Black was used for the cockpit interior with the seat painted interior gray, the cushion painted khaki and the headrest painted flat red.  A light oil wash of Ivory Black was used applied to the landing gear and wheel well areas.  The decals came with the kit and were applied using Champ Setting Solution.

The model represents a machine from the Tigers (No. 1) Squadron, Indian Air Force, during the India-Pakistan War in September 1965.  Special thanks to Rupesh Santoshi and Vic Scheuerman for their assistance with historic information and reference materials.

Happy Modeling!
