This is my 1/32
Hasegawa Messerschmitt Bf-109 G4
finished in the markings of “Black 1 “ from
JG 53 in Sicily. This machine was flown by Oblt. Franz Schiess in 1943.
Taking scale
size into consideration, I decided to modify the cockpit. The leverage
effect in the cockpit has been set by using MDC (Model Design Construction)
Bf-109 G2-G4 set (#32008). The cockpit components are painted to RLM 66 by
using Tamiya acrylics.
The dials on
the instrument panels are from the decal sheet of MDC set.
The second
modification is for the spinner. I replaced the kit part with EagleParts #20-32
corrected spinner. (Do not forget to drill a hole on the nose.)

The painting
was done with Gunze Sangyo acrylics by referring to EagleCal decal sheet. There
have been various interpretations of the color scheme of this machine. The
problem is, JG53 was in the process of altering the basic RLM79 by adding Dark
Green (probably RLM80) in different combination*.
As a result the
paint scheme is; RLM 79 with Dark green for upper surfaces and
RLM78 for lower surfaces.
The last
modification is for the tropical filter and the exhausts. Tropical filter
is from MDC’s #32011 (Bf -109
F/G4 Tropical filter). Finally I
replaced the exhausts with Quickboost
parts (#32010). The decals are
from EagleCals EC#48 Bf-109 G-4s set.
