Opening
the box, we find a beautiful imposing model and with delicate panel lines
and the only drawback is the rigid decals. The assembly began with
the cockpit which I detailed with detailed with sprue and stretched sprue. The seat
was replaced with a resin seat that more closely resembles the seat in the
Sea Hawk.

After
the job of detailling of the cockpit, I turned my attention to the
painting. The
inside I painted black and then completed the instrument panel which
includes an acetate film and photo etch panel supplied in the kit.
The next job after the cockpit was to apply a coat of Tamiya primer to the
model before sitting back and studying photos of the real aircraft to make
sure I got the final paint scheme correct. All the landing
gear bays were sprayed with gray and luminosity corrected with a pinch of green
to get that particular color
sprayed on the true Sea Hawk, the original colour was gray
dark gull. The panel lines were shaded to add to the weathering
effect. The
yellow and black bands were painted on as I preferred this method to using
decals for these stripes.
The
model after an application of clear coat was given a black wash with and
earth of burnt Siena in order show off the panel lines better. The paint job
was then finished with a dull clear coat.

The display base is a simple painted sheet dark gray with painted
white lines as seen on aircraft carriers.
