This is may first ever article on arcair so go easy on me.  I have been modelling for the past two years.  My first model was a Revell 1/144 F-4.  That's how I caught the bug!!  I have built a wide variety of aircraft including what my family and friends believe to be the last 1/32nd scale Revell Germany F-14A Tomcat.

Anyway's, getting back to the Spit.  It was a birthday present last month and I just took one look at it and just had to build it.  It was built OOB with very little scratch building, in fact the only scratch building is on the diorama.  Some Putty was needed on the wing root.  I was very impressed with the engine at first, but when it came to gluing the to halves of the aircraft together, it caused big problems. Otherwise it went together pretty well.

I painted the model in the scheme of Flt Lt Deere D.F.C of 54 squadron based at Hornchurch.  The Mk 1a was powered by a 12 cylinder Rolls Royce Merlin III engine which pumped out 1.030 h.p which gave it maximum speed of 365mph. Armament consisted of eight 0.303 Browning machine guns and the wing span was 36ft and the length was 29ft.
