  Falklands/Malvinas War Anniversary 2007 

 

2007 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands/Malvinas War and to commemorate this special Group Build on the ARC Forums was held between 1st Sept 2006 and 1st March 2007 .  The following collection of models represent some of the many aircraft involved in the conflict and were all completed by Group Build participants.

Tom Rowson completed this 1/72 Hasegawa Royal Navy Sea Harrier.  Tom used photo-etch, scratch-building and an aftermarket seat in his model, finishing it off with aftermarket decals from modeldecal.

Greg Wise built this 1/48 Hobbycraft A-4C Skyhawk of the Fuerza Aerea Argentina (Argentine Air Force).

Matthew Johnson finished this 1/48 Airfix Royal Navy Sea Harrier, improving it by using photo-etch from Eduard.

Matthew Johnson also submitted this 1/48 Hobbycraft A-4B of the Fuerza Aerea Argentina.  He utilised a True Details seat, replacement vac canopy by Falcon and Condor decals.

John Morrey built this 1/72 Italeri Royal Navy Sea Harrier.  John spent a lot of time improving this nice little kit including replacing the pitot tube on the nose with a sewing needle!

Colin Whitehouse used the rarely seen 1/48 Belcher Bits kit to build his Royal Navy Lynx.

Juanjo Dominguez completed this 1/72 Hasegawa Royal Air Force Harrier GR.3.  Juanjo used his scratch-building skills to great effect for this model, including rebuilding the cockpit.

Shamsul Hilmi submitted this 1/72 Academy Super Etendard of the Comando de Aviacion Naval (Argentine Naval Aviation).  It features an Exocet anti-ship missile on its starboard wing.

Luis Cereigido spent a lot of time and effort improving this old and rare 1/72 Airfix kit to represent a Canberra B.62 of the Fuerza Aerea Argentina. The aftermarket decals are from Aerocalcas.

Luis Cereigido resurrected another Airfix classic with this 1/72 Westland Scout helicopter.  He modernised the basic kit to show an operational aircraft as used by the British Army and Royal Marines during the conflict.

Adam Coleman built this 1/72 Super Models MB-339 of the Comando de Aviacion Naval.  Adam improved upon the kit armament by scratch-building two new rockets pods.

Bill Clark completed this 1/72 Royal Navy Sea Harrier using a mix of parts from the Italeri and Esci boxing.  He has made a number of fine adjustments and additions to make a more accurate model.
