This is the original
issue of Eduard's Bf 108 Taifun, the all-plastic version. To this, I added
Eduard's photoetch detail set. I have previously built Eduard's ProfiPack
Taifun, which contains less PE than the separate set. If you like this aircraft,
and like PE, I recommend getting the all-plastic kit and adding their
photoetched set to it. There are many more items for the canopy, wheel wells,
landing gear, and engine.

I used WEM (White
Ensign Models) Colourcoats enamels almost exclusively for this build. The
exceptions are Model Master Leather for the seats, Gunze Yellow (H313) for the
belts, and Color of Eagles Tire Black. The camouflage "spots" were
sprayed freehand using a Badger 150 airbrush. I have found WEM's paints thin
better if I use lacquer thinner, but there is still a very narrow window between
"too thick and too thin." Do some experimentig if you plan to use
their line of paints.
There is only
one area of this kit that really requires attention. This is where the lower
wing meets the bottom of the rear fuselage. These two surfaces are molded
with slightly different compound curves. A few thin layers of Zap-A-Gap CA
smoothed things out and allowed the parts to be faired together.
I used the kit
decals, which went on without problems. The panel lines are quite pronounced, so
some slitting of the decals were necessary to eliminate silvering. I really like
this aircraft in the desert scheme. Since this was for a customer, I'll have to
get one of these for myself. A fun build indeed.
