Silly Week 2007

After the loss of ShuttleBug One (Seriously..somebody just lost it!) orbital fast food delivery was in a quandry. The ISS (International Space Station) crew had become very reliant upon regularly scheduled pizza delivery, and raised a loud ruckus about needing something soon. Into the void stepped one intrepid food delivery specialist, and some very inventive engineers.

Using the basic frame of a classic Volkswagen Beetle, BASA was able to fabricate lightweight alloy wings and orbital pods, as well as the shuttle-like nose in short order, and soon the vehicle was up and running. Launched from atop a Chinese Shenzhou II Satellite launcher, the ShuttleBug 2 was soon delivering piping hot Chinese food into low Earth orbit.

The kits used were Revell kits, starting with their VW Beetle, and 1/144 Shuttle. The flight crew/Payload specialists are from the Revell 1/24 Gemini capsule. Lots of sheet plastic and filler went into the combination. Decals were printed upon an injet printer, and the tiles were hand-scribed.
