Here is a 9" diameter un scaled
and unnamed Starship I built this fall which took over 2 months to finish. It is
sculpted from RENFOAM, pinned together with wooden dowels, and covered with hundreds
of plastic bits and pieces from plastic sheeting and the scrap box. Photos 3 and
4 show the exposed foam and the start of the plastic "skin" coverage.
Fenders and gas tanks from a Chinese tank came in handy. As I added the bits and
pieces, it became necessary to spray prime the assembled areas white to
make everything uniform, making it easier on the eye as construction
continued.

Photos 1 and 2 show the finished
results with subtle acrylic washes of blue, green, red, and black on certain
areas of the craft. Everything was hand brushed, other than the Citadel White
Primer spray can used for the base coat. The coloring was accidental. I thought
shading with grays and black over white would be too monochromatic and started
with the color washes, which I believe, finish off the ship's appearance.
The photos below
show different progress stages of the plastic skin layer over the foam mandrel.
3 bottles of CA were consumed to build this ship. The base was carved to
simulate mountain tops and is RENFOAM. I attached the ship with a 1/8"
solid brass rod and covered the rod with cotton stuffing to simulate clouds. I
thoroughly enjoyed building this ship, and hope you enjoy the pictures.
