1/48 Hasegawa Spitfire Mk.VIII

Hello,

Yes it's another Spitfire! This is Hasegawa's Mk.VIII version in US markings. "Lonesome Polecat" was the mount of 1LT Bill Skinner, US Army Air Corps 31FG/308FS operational in Italy during March 1944. I bought this kit because these markings came with it and I wanted a Spitfire in US markings for my collection. The kit is typical Hasegawa quality with no build issues to worry about. Many argue about the kits accuracy, but it looks OK to me.

The kit went together well and was painted with Humbrol enamels, weathered with black/grey watercolours. The decals went on nicely after some liberal application of Microset/sol. The only additions were some PE seatbelts and some stretched sprue for the wires. I enjoyed this kit very much and plan to build another Mk.VIII in the future.

Happy modeling,

Darren
