Here is my Hasegawa
Bf109F-2. I fitted the Aires cockpit set which adds a lot to the interior
detailing and actually goes into the Hasegawa kit without too much trouble.
I separated the elevators to drop them slightly, drilled out the exhausts and
added some etched brass exhaust shields. The kit allows dropped flaps and
radiator doors and I decided to deploy these as you can see from the photo
below.
I finished the model
with Polyscale acrylics over pre-shading, and applied the kit decals over a
light coat of Johnson's clear. The model represents Werner Molders' F-2 on the
Russian front, and carries his 100+ kill scoreboard on the rudder. The decals
worked very well out of the box and reacted well to my usual Microset and sol.
The Hasegawa 109
series goes together really well and provided a quick project which looks great
in my collection. The Aires cockpit is a relatively cheap add on which enhances
the model alot. Have a go and see what you think.
