1/48 HobbyCraft Me-109K-4

This is my first attempt to wash and weather a model. I am quite disappointed with this model kit by HobbyCraft as it was not detailed enough and the instructions were sparce with no proper colour layout for the model. Adding to that, decals were not properly laid out too. I had to search the web for more details on airframe and the camouflage colour.

Anyway, with a basic model, I decide to go further and tried using the wash and weathering techniques. Camouflage colours were airbrushed and first coated with Humbrol Clear gloss. After applying the decals, I used Pastel chalks for the panel lines (which were scribed earlier on) and for a weathering effect. I did try using thinned black enamel and and cleaning later but that did not work for me as it washes off the gloss coating as well. Perhaps someone could tell me where I went wrong.

After all the wash and weathering using chalk, a final coat of Humbrol satin clear to the fuselage and wings. I am pretty happy with the outcome and will consider doing more effects and techniques.

As this is my first attempt, all comments and suggestions (good or bad), are most welcome as I am still learning. Thanks
