1/48 Revell F-8 Crusader

This is my 1/48 Revell F-8.  I built this model as a present for my Dad a couple years ago.  It is marked to represent the plane he flew with the VMF(AW)-235 'Death Angels' from November 1966 - November 1967.  The Marines of VMF-235 flew air support missions out of Da Nang.

While the fit of this model was good, and the cockpit was well detailed, all the panel lines were raised.  All the panel lines and rivet holes were done by yours truly.

The decals were an ARC success story.  The model did not come with 235 markings and I was at a loss to figure out how to create them.  I recognized one of the F-8s on ARC was marked with a set of decals from a model that included 235 markings.  I emailed the builder in hopes that he had retained the decals.  He graciously supplied me with the leftover decals and the present was done!  The name on the left side of the canopy should read "Midknite", my Dad's call sign.
