To
complete this version of the VX-4 F-4 Phantom, I used the Tamiya 1/32 scale F-4J
MD Phantom II Kit #60306-8800, Cam Decals for VX-4 Bicentennial, Model Masters
Italian Red #2719, Model Masters Insignia Blue #35044, and two resin seats

Before
I began building the kit, I searched the Web for any photos & reference
material and all I found was 3 pictures which were of limit help. The decal
guide that comes with the
CAM
decals is of little help and the decals were somewhat difficult to match in
color.
Once
I was able to get the kit together, using foto/frisket film, I traced the
outline of the red saw teeth and made stencils of the stripes which I airbrushed
over a flat white base. To apply
the front decals which are not made to fit the front nose section correctly, I
had to keep applying decal solution until the decals set down and took shape;
there were plenty of times the kit almost made it to the scrape pile.

Overall the kit came out decent,
the paint scheme is not correct on the front, but with the limited reference
material I could find, I'm happy with the outcome. For those interested in
building the Tamiya F-4, I recommend you get a set of the Cutting Edge Intakes
of some of the Intake Covers, the kit needs them.
