Here is Pacific Coast Models'
C.200 Saetta (Thunderbolts from Jupiter). It is an excellent
multi media kit with resin and photo etch parts. It is similar to Classic
Airframes' Re.2001 -not for beginners. When I was photographing it on my
girlfriend's hot-tub cover, I noticed that the tail wheel had broken off.
I'll have to find a replacement for it. The photo etch made the kit very
detailed, and very complicated, especially the landing gear. The engine
cowling is a single resin piece and is shaped beautifully. No
significant fit problems were encountered. PCM is to be congratulated.
This is by far the best 1/48 C.200, and I would certainly recommend it.

I
painted the aircraft to represent one from 54o Stormo during 1941.
PCM offers six sets of markings for the aircraft on their excellent decal
sheet. Like all axis aircraft of that period, the cowling was painted
yellow. I used insignia yellow, not RLM 04, as the Italians
would have been using their own paints, not German paints. Many
modelers think that it's OK to use RLM colors on Italian planes, but I
disagree (except for Bf-109s used by the ANR). Besides, I think Verde
Mimetico and Giallo sound better than RLM 71 and RLM 04- maybe
more artistic.
