I was happy to see that KP made the R44 Raven II.

It´s a nice kit. The parts fit well. On some parts burr needs to be removed, which is a bit tricky on the small parts.

The front window is really perfect. The side windows deform the view inside the cockpit. If I had noted it before, I would have replaced them, because the interior looks fine.

There is also the motor in the rear, which looks good when you watch the model from below. It´s necessary to drill a hole for the exhaust in the right position. Dimensions are shown in the instructions.

I made new antennas and rods for the tail rotor out of stretched sprue.

The model was painted with brush and colours from Humbrol and Revell.

The decals are printed in a good quality and are good to handle. Unfortunately the black stripes on the fuselage sides are too short. So in the front I had to fix that. The decal with stripes for the rear of the fuselage is too wide and the registration for the bottom is also too large. So, I printed a new registration and lengthened the stripes by using the stripes of another paint scheme the kit offers. There were no decals for the headlamps in the nose. I took two silver dots I had left from another kits decal sheet.  I contacted KP because of the mistakes on the decal sheet, they replied that all the issues will be corrected within a short time.

I sealed the rotors with silk, clear varnish and the fuselage with shiny, clear varnish.

So, I´m happy to have the R44 in my collection. It´s a nice kit for modellers with some experience.

Greetings from Germany
