History
Designed as a long-range fighter in 1944, the Republic F-84 entered service with the USAF in November 1947. Chosen to equip NATO air forces during the early Fifties, F-84E and G models eventually served with no fewer than thirteen countries around the world. One hundred and eighty seven aircraft were supplied to the Netherlands, the first twenty-one being the F-84E.

The model
I built my Hobbyboss 1/32 F-84G straight out of the box, but used decals of ‘Dutch Decal’ to represent an ex. from 315 squadron, Royal Dutch Airforce (‘TB’-squadron code) which unit flew the Thunderjet between 1952 and 1956 from their homebase Eindhoven. To accentuate the panel lines I used some soft chalk pastel dust.

Overall the fit of this large kit is superb. It was a pleasure building it!
