This is my first submission to ARC. I have always liked the 'Sabre' and as a change from the normal bare metal versions I opted to go with a more colorful version representing one of the Sky Lancers aircraft. The kit was built OOB, nothing added just paint and decals. The paint used was Model Master enamels with an overcoat of Future for the decals. The decals were from Leading Edge Models. This was the first time I used their decals and I must say they worked great. Once the decals were applied I over-coated with Model Master satin acrylic. The decal sheet said that the aircraft could range anywhere from gloss to flat so I chose in between. There's not much to say about the kit that hasn't been said countless times. It has the early Monogram raised panel lines which get annoying when removing seams and the joint areas look like they were scalped but I'm not into rescribing so I just have to make the best of it.

The Sky Lancers were a Canadian aerobatic team formed in 1955 doing shows in Europe. In 1956 they were reformed in Germany using the same name but with a different color scheme. In March of 1956 while on a training flight 4 of the 5 pilots were killed and the RCAF suspended aerobatic operations for several years.

Even with the kit's shortcomings with a little care it turns out a nice representation of the Sabre.
