1/48 Hasegawa P-38 - Virginia Marie

This model is completely OOB. It is my first attempt at pre-shading. The blue areas are all painted with the exception of the numbers. It has decals for the blue areas, but my experience tells me the effort was not going to be worth it. It is also my first attempt at a wash. I know, it needs work.

Paint is all Model Master. The correct shade of blue is still a mystery to me. The box art has one shade, the box sides have a second shade, the decals have a third shade and the FS color in the Squadron book is a fourth shade. I ended up using French Blue.
I figured if I am going to be wrong, I'll pick a shade I am happy with.

The pre-decal clear coat is Future. The post-decal clear coat is MM flat clear.

If I were to do it again, I would add chipping to the prop leading edges, airbrush some exhaust stains, and use weighted resin tires.

Thanks for looking.
